Intersport Racing MG Lola EX-275 by Scalextric/MTR32 |
Intersport Racing was given a bye into the 2004 Le Mans race as they won the LM P675 class in the ALMS in 2003. It iwas powered by a 3.4 litre V8 Judd which should be more reliable and give Jon Field, Duncan Dayton and Larry Connors a good chance of finishing. This MG Lola was the first one to be built and had the same race number back in 2003. On wednesday evening in June practice the Intersport Team MG Lola Ex-257 drivers did a fair amount of spinning. Attempting to find their limits? On Thursday the car stopped at Tertre Rouge with electronic problems but not before Field had done a lap in 3m 48.670secs which placed the car 16th place on the grid. It was still 6 seconds behind the other MG Lola from RML. |
Jon Field had his son Clint Field in the Inter- sport Racings second entry - a Lola B2K/40 - and within an hour Field sr. was one lap ahead of his son. But at 18h11 the Intersport Racing MG Lola spun in the Michelin chicane and tried to crawl back to the pit, but the car stopped at the outside of the Karting corners. The left- hand transmission was badly damaged and Jon Field was unable to repair it. It was the first official retirement in LM P1 after only 29 laps! |
